About this role
What you would do
Kennel Cleaners: morning cleaning duties for the dog kennels, from 8:30 am until done
Dog Walkers: walk shelter dogs daily after 10 am in any weather
Cat Cleaners: clean the cat enclosures with staff and other volunteers
Cat Socializers: pet, play with and calm cats so they stay friendly
Lean on Leon Program: repack donated food into smaller batches and hand it out
Surgery Prep: clean equipment, wrap packs and prep e-collars for the med team
Reception Duties: record voice messages, copy adoption paperwork, answer general emails
Grounds Maintenance: weed whacking and mowing in spring and summer, plus garden work
Father John's Animal House is a no kill shelter in Lafayette. New volunteers train in one area first and can add more roles later. Training runs about an hour and is usually held at the end of each month. The shelter does accept school community service requirements.
