About this role
Shelf Readers adopt a section of the library and maintain it, making sure items are in correct order and shelves stay tidy, and may sign up for as many as five sections. New and returning shelf readers meet in person with the Teen Librarian for an overview of the process before starting. Teens can also earn volunteer time through Color A Smile by picking up a coloring page at the reference desk, coloring it in the library and returning it to be mailed to nursing homes, hospitals and troops overseas. Other options include submitting book reviews, book lists, book trailers and book talks, writing as a GRPL Teen Blogger, and contributing to the Teen Voices Art Project.
