About this role
What you would do
- Assemble patient informational folders
- Escort patients to and from physical and occupational therapy
- Visit patients as a Patient Advocate
- Guide same-day procedure patients to their designated areas
- Serve as a liaison between the recovery room and the family waiting room
- Office work: filing, organizing patient records, using the computer, answering phones and running requested errands
RWJ University Hospital Rahway is a community hospital in Union County. More than 160 adult and youth volunteers serve there and give about 28,000 hours each year. Junior volunteers support patients, families and staff in non-clinical ways, so most of the work is helping people get where they need to go and keeping records in order. Assignments are matched to a volunteer's skills and availability.
