About this role
What you would do
- Provide patient companionship
- Dispense information to patients and visitors
- Escort patients around the hospital
- Perform clerical work such as answering phones and filing
- Follow hospital procedures and conduct yourself professionally
Jersey City Medical Center runs a student track that is separate from its adult volunteer program. Applicants go to a monthly information and orientation session before they are placed in a department. A criminal background screening and a medical clearance are part of the process, and a parent signs the student agreement. Students commit to at least fifty hours over their first six months.
